Dave Thirumalai was awarded the Hand Neurath award by the Protein Society in 2019

September 3, 2020
The citation reads, "Professor Thirumalai has been a pioneer in advancing our understanding of biomolecular actions, particularly protein and RNA folding, and the basis for how molecular motors convert energy to motion. Professor Thirumalai, one of the top theorists in delineating the principles of protein and RNA folding, is unique in driving and interpreting experiments, and collaborating with experimentalist colleagues. He was the first to quantify the heterogeneity and bumpiness of protein folding landscapes, through the definition of a glass temperature and its ratio with the folding Read more about Dave Thirumalai was awarded the Hand Neurath award by the Protein Society in 2019

Drs. Mary Hayhoe, Alex Huk and Larry Cormack received BRAIN Initiative grant

August 25, 2020

Mary Hayhoe, Alex Huk and Larry Cormack received a U01 BRAIN Initiative grant for their proposal entitled "Neural circuit computations for visual motion during natural primate behaviors”. The proposed work aims to understand the neural computations underlying visual motion perception and motion-based action during natural, unconstrained primate behaviors.

New Nurdle Patrol Startup Kits

August 17, 2020

Organizations can now create their own local Nurdle Patrol citizen science project! Nurdle Patrol is a project where volunteers conduct 10 minute surveys looking for tiny plastic pellets (nurdles) along waterways around the country in an effort to identify high concentrations that could lead to the source of plastic being released. With funding from the Matagorda Bay Mitigation Trust

INIA-N research featured at the Scripps Research Institute and The University of Texas at Austin

July 23, 2020

INIA-N researchers reveal the Brain’s Immune Cells are a Central Driver of Alcohol Use Disorder. The multifaceted approach is the first to link microglia to the molecular, cellular, and behavioral changes associated with the development of alcohol dependence, suggesting that microglia may also be critical for the development and progression of alcohol use disorder. Read more in the press release from
