Brian Kushner

A native of upstate New York, Brian Kushner is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting (NYSE: FCN), an international restructuring, turnaround and interim management firm.  FTI acquired Brian’s company, CXO, in December 2008. A serial entrepreneur, Brian was co-founder of CXO and founder of its predecessor BGKC, LLC. At FTI he leads the Private Capital Services practice focused on private equity, activist and hedge funds.  

Over the past 2 decades, working in collaboration with a number of major private equity and hedge funds, he has served as the CEO, Chief Restructuring Officer (“CRO”) or Director of over two dozen public and private technology, media, manufacturing, telecom and defense companies.    In that time Brian has also bought or sold over 25 companies. He has also served as an expert witness on more than 12 matters. Previously, Brian founded Recompute, and helped restructure MCC and BSG under BGKC.

From 1982 – 1992, Brian was with BDM International, a defense systems integration firm, where he eventually ran Systems and Advanced Technology and was responsible for troubled projects, certain classified programs and most DARPA-related business. BDM was bought by Ford in 1988, and then did a leveraged buyout with the Carlyle Group in 1990.  

Brian currently serves as a non-executive member and chair of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of Cumulus Media, Inc (NASDAQ: CMLS); a non-executive member and chair of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of Mudrick Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ: MUDS); a non-executive member and chair of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of DexYP Holdings (formerly Dex Media, OTC:DMDA); a non-executive member and member of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of Zodiac Interactive (a One Equity Partners portfolio company); and is on the College of Engineering Council at Cornell University (Emeritus).
