Mr. Dannenbaum was born in Houston Texas in 1939.  He attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1962.  

Dannenbaum currently serves as Chairman of Dannenbaum Engineering Corporation, a Texas-based consulting engineering firm.  Dannenbaum Engineering Corporation has been providing professional services to municipal, state, and federal agencies, and private clients for 73 years. Originally founded in Houston in 1945, this private consulting practice has grown into a major engineering service organization. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, with regional offices in Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin, McAllen, San Antonio, El Paso, and Laredo, Dannenbaum employs over 200 people and is one of the most respected civil design firms in Texas.

Mr. Dannenbaum is an active member of the Houston community and has received numerous awards including “One of Four Outstanding Young Men of Houston in 1968” from the Houston Chamber of Commerce, “Outstanding Big City Chapter President in the State and Nation” from the Houston Junior Chamber of Commerce, “Outstanding Young Engineer in 1967” from the Sam Houston Chapter of Texas Society of Professional Engineers, “One of Five Outstanding Young Texans in 1970” by the Texas Jaycees, “Engineer of the Year for 2004” by the Greater Houston Chapter of Texas Society of Professional Engineers, and “2004 TSPE Outstanding Engineer of the Year” by the Texas Society of Professional Engineers.

Governor Perry appointed Mr. Dannenbaum to the U.T. System Board of Regents in 2007. Dannenbaum served as Chair of the College of Natural Sciences Foundation Advisory Council from 1984-1987. Mr. Dannenbaum and his wife Shirley have 2 children and 5 grandchildren.
