We have a new paper out on the vulnerability of lizard embryos to climate change. Adult lizards can behaviorally thermoregulate, so they simply adjust the amount of time in full sun when the temperature is higher. The eggs however are sessile and subject to soil temperature. Using laboratory data on critical thermal maximum for eggs and a model of soil temperature, we forecast the lethal effects of higher temperatures on future lizard populations.
