Purchasing Additional Bandwidth

We depend more and more on WiFi to connect our computers and other devices to the Internet. As a result, the amount of traffic on UT’s wireless network has steadily increased. To handle the traffic, UT networking allocates a weekly default bandwidth to faculty, staff, and students. While the defaut allocations for faculty and staff are generous, for students the default allocation is just 1 GB/week. This may not be enough to meet needs.

It is possible to increase one’s bandwidth allocation each semester.
If you live in the dorms, you can upgrade your subscription bandwidth here: http://resnet.utexas.edu
Otherwise, you can purchase additional bandwidth here: https://bwtiers.db.gw.utexas.edu/bwtiers/pnasubscriptions.cgi

Unless you are a light user of the Internet, we recommend increasing one’s wireless bandwidth to at least 50GB/week for a sum of $4 per semester. Please note that costs for additional bandwidth are prorated throughout the semester.
