How does phenotypic variation develop and evolve among individuals and species?
My research is at the interface of systems biology, evolutionary developmental biology, and computational biology, with goal of reaching an integrative understanding of the molecular and developmental mechanisms and evolutionary origins of phenotypic variation. I explore how interspecific variation across biological levels can be decoupled in the evolution of behavior and morphology and can influence patterns of phenotypic diversification, and aim to provide integrative and mechanistic understanding of developmental plasticity.
