This Week in Virology TWiV will be hosting their 500th episode in Austin Texas on June 29, 2018 in an event sponsored by the LCID. TWiV is the flagship member of the group of Microbe TV podcasts that specialize in science communication. TWiV dives into the technical aspects of virus infection and disease, but it is also entertaining for the layperson. For those NPR fans, think “Car Talk” but for infectious disease.
Dr. Vincent Racaniello, the Higgins Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Columbia University, is the founder of TWiV and the Microbe TV family of science podcasts, that have over a million downloads and tens of thousands of weekly listeners. The TWiV crew is on a mission of increasing scientific knowledge while giving a fun peak at what goes on behind-the-scenes of real science. This mission combined with their focus on microbial infectious diseases dovetails perfectly with the mission of the UT CID. We congratulate the whole TWiV crew on their selfless accomplishment of 500 episodes and are honored that the LCID can be a part of the celebration!
