Space Request Forms

Two space request forms are available to apply for space at the NHB greenhouse: 

  1. New Space Request Form - to be used when applying for new space for a research project (space the P.I. is not currently assigned nor using).
     
  2. Space Extension Request Form - to be used when requesting an extension to an existing research project (space already assigned to the P.I. and is currently being used by the P.I.)

    The purpose of the second space request form is to make requesting an extension to currently assigned space much faster and convenient for the P.I. This form is used exclusively for extending dates of currently assigned space for the same purpose. If other modifications need to be made to the space request, use the new space request form.

 

Checklist and timeframe for submitting a new space request form:

  1. Consultation meeting with GH manager to verify the GH facility can meet the needs of the P.I.’s research project.
     
  2. Submit a new space allocation form.
     
  3. Each P.I. who submits a request to GSAC will receive a response from GSAC regarding their space requests before the quarterly start date.
     
  4. If space is available and GSAC assigns space to the P.I., each researcher in the P.I.’s lab who wants to conduct research in the assigned space will need to schedule an orientation session with the greenhouse manager before access to the greenhouse is authorized.

Checklist and timeframe for submitting a space extension request form:

  1. Submit a space extension request form.
     
  2. Each P.I. who submits a request to GSAC will receive a response from GSAC regarding their space requests before the quarterly start date.
     
  3. If space is available and GSAC assigns space to the P.I., continue using the space assigned to the P.I. for the timeframe approved by GSAC.

Checklist and timeframe for vacating space if space request is not approved:

  1. P.I.’s will be notified by the quarterly start date if the space request submitted is not approved.
     
  2. If the space request was not approved, vacate and clean the space by the end date of the current quarterly cycle.
     
  3. Inform greenhouse manager in writing via email that the space is cleaned, vacated, and to stop billing the P.I. for space.

 

Factors considered in allocating space: current space demands and availability, project size, pest susceptibility, crop compatibility and sanitation.
 

GSAC reviews and assigns space in the NHB GH. Any conflicts of interest regarding space allocation should be brought to the committee’s attention as soon as possible.
