My research focuses on understanding how gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella enterica respond to antibiotic in terms of chemotaxis. Antibiotic has been shown to elucidate ROS (Reactive Oxygen Stress) stress in bacteria. Currently I am testing if a bacterium can sense ROS as a signal chemotactically. Considering pathogenic bacteria encounters ROS stress in the form of Hydrogen peroxide inside host environment, understanding bacterial response to ROS stress has huge implication in better understanding host-pathogen interaction.
