Green Jay Study

Green Jay
I guess my teaching biology of birds is rubbing off. I've been thinking about local field systems for awhile and have started working on Green Jays. I heard about a researcher Tony Henehan working in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. He's doing cool work radio tracking the jays. While trapping with Tony, I also met Sarah Hamer from TAMU who is studying avain parasites. This summer, Sarah and I trapped and banded two jays at their northern range limit near Berclaire, Texas, thanks to some friendly landowners who have feeders running. Watch this space for more news...
