eBird - Austin Area
eBird is a citizen science application focused entirely on ornithology. Like iNaturalist, eBird is used to catalog biodiversity observations in a given area. As of February 2018, Austin has 271 species observations contributed by 2,496 individual observation efforts. Unique features of eBird include:
- Maps of migration patterns
- Hotspot and checklist system — bird observations are checklisted at specific pre-determined hotspots. With iNaturalist, individual observations are plotted on a map.
- Statistical analysis — bar charts and line graphs are available to explore when and where species are found in a given area.
